What's Cooking In Whittier

This cookbook opens with a prayer, compliments of Mr. and Mrs Frederick E. Owen:

God bless my little kitchen

Love it's every nook

Bless me as I do my work

Wash pots and pans and cook

May the meals that I prepare

Be seasoned from above

With They great blessing and

Thy grace

But most of all Thy love

As we partake of earthly food

The table for us spread

Will not forget to thank

Thee, Lord

Who gives us our daily bread

So bless my little kitchen, God

And those who enter in. 

 

Once known for its citrus groves and walnut trees, Whittier was incorporated in February 1898 and became a charter city in Los Angeles County in 1955. The city is named for the Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier.
