zen cookery: practical macrobiotics
Compiled by Ohsawa Foundation
Los Angeles, 1966
George Ohsawa popularized the macrobiotic diet, which emphasizes brown rice, seaweed, vegetables, and fermented foods. Following Ohsawa’s death, The Ohsawa Foundation was founded in 1971 to promote his food teachings and philosophy, which pulled from Zen Buddhism. The Foundation is still active today, and headquartered in Chico.
